Gamer - Bloody and that's about it.

In a near-future world, Kable (Gerard Butler) is a Death Row inmate forced to participate in a simulated-world game conceived by a mad Internet billionaire, Ken Castle(Michael C. Hall, more commonly known for "Dexter"): Prisoners can have “nano-cells” implanted in their brains which allow players in the outside world to control their movements through a war-torn battlescape game called “Slayers.”

Kable is controlled by Simon, a 17-year-old (Logan Lerman) who becomes a Web star for guiding Kable to survival. But as all gamers lament, lag will kill the game or in this case, Kable a living avatar. Independence is needed for survival and victory. When Simon unplugs and Kable breaks the rules of the game and escape, he find himself in the real world trying to find his wife who has become a robot-slave and his daughter who is lost. Meanwhile a rogue group led by Ludacris contacts him and asks for his assistance to break free of Castle's leash and spoil the billionaire’s plan for world dominance.

The main downer in the movie was the shaky and confusing war action which I would assume is an attempt to present the chaotic nature of war. First-person might work in virtual reality, but it fails in motion pictures. (As has repeatedly been proven - why does no one get the message?)

It is hard to imagine humanity degrading to such limits where human lives become nothing more than entertainment or exploitation. But there are interesting concept worth exploring here: The expansion of a VR universe or development of futuristic blood sports or the way in which how technology is as dangerous as it is productive.

The storyline is filled with flaws and the flow is lagging to say the least. 4/10 for me.
