Wasted Heat No More

Heat loss is a crime, at least to the computer nerds needing a little tweaking. Wataru Kobayashi at Waseda University in Japan and a few friends have built a rectifier that allows a heat current to travel in one direction but not the other thus controlling the insidious effects of heat in microchips.

This invention offers countless applications, such as a thermal transistor, thermal logic gates, and a thermal memory thus offering a solution to one of the biggest obstacles in high level electronics and computers (processes with intensive workloads).

I, for one, appreciate it if the computer does not lag, hang or blow up.
